30655QLD Course in Firearms Safety

(Approved for Firearms Licensing in Queensland)

 

About this Course

There is no substitute for safety, especially when it comes to firearms. Most 'accidents' can be avoided simply by following the basic safety rules and procedures. This course has been designed by the Queensland Police Service and has been deemed a mandatory requirement for individuals wishing to obtain a Firearms Licence in Queensland. The primary focus of this course and the licensing procedure is to improve the awareness of safety.

Our instructors for this course have extensive experience in the safe handling of firearms for both recreational and occupational purposes.

 

Subjects Covered

  • 30655QLD Course in Firearms Safety (Approved for Firearms Licensing in Queensland)

 

This accredited course incorporates the following core unit:

  • SROFAS001A Demonstrate knowledge of firearms safety, firearms and the community

And at least one of the following elective units:

  • SROFAS002A Demonstrate use of Category A & B firearms safely
  • SROFAS003A Demonstrate use of Category C firearms safely
  • SROFAS004A Demonstrate use of Category D firearms safely
  • SROFAS005H Demonstrate use of Category H firearms safely

 

Course Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment and may apply to the Queensland Police Service for a Queensland Firearms Licence.

 

Prerequisites

All participants must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible to apply for a firearms licence therefore we require the same standards prior to enrolment into this course:

  • Must be 18 years of age (or accompanied by a responsible adult)
  • Must have no criminal convictions in the past 5 years
  • Must have no domestic violence orders in the past 5 years
  • Must have a genuine reason for applying to hold a licence

Licensing

Firearms Licensing is managed by the Queensland Police Service Weapons Licensing Branch. All licence applications are to be lodged at your local Police Station where they will be receipted and forwarded to Weapons Licensing Branch for Processing.

The minimum processing time for licence applications is 28 days. If you wish to enquire about the progress of an application you may contact Weapons Licensing Branch on (07) 3015 7777.

Licence Application fees vary depending on the type of licence. Information on licensing fees is available on the Queensland Police Service Website.

 

Duration

This course is conducted over 7 hours (core unit plus one elective)

An additional 3 hours is required for each additional elective unit.

 

Cost

The cost of this course is $150 (including Category A, B & H)

Add $50 for each additional licence category.
